Construction is being advanced on the final two kilometers (1.24 miles) of the Xianghai Bridge project, which will be completed in the first half of 2022.

The pouring of the suspended poured beams for the Modaomen Bridge, a vital section of the project, is in full swing and expected to be finished by the end of June. Works like the installation of traffic safety facilities, as well as joint debugging and commissioning of the toll system will be pushed forward in the second half of the year.

The prefabrication and erection of precast beams are being carried out on parts of the project in Zhongshan's Tanzhou Town, which are expected to be completed in mid-June, while concrete pouring of the anti-collision walls and whole layers of the bridge deck is also underway.

The asphalt pavement for the bridge's feeder in Xiangzhou District has been basically completed, with the installation of traffic safety facilities and construction of the toll stations are nearing completion.

The Xianghai Bridge totals a length of 29.8 km (19 miles), starting from the Guangdong Western Coastal Expressway's Tanzhou Interchange and ending on Huxin Road in Doumen. Once operational, travel time between Xiangzhou and Doumen districts will be reduced to 15 minutes.

It will also connect with interchanges and roads like the Guangzhou-Zhuhai West and Jiangmen-Zhuhai expressways, greatly facilitating travel between the city's east and west wings and relieving traffic pressure on Zhuhai Avenue and National Expressway G105.
