(cityofzhuhai.com)

Updated: 2020-12-29

Construction commenced Dec 28 on the first section of the Xianghai Bridge West Extension Line from Shuanghu Road to Baijiao Town in Doumen where it will merge with the main line of the Xianghai Bridge. The extension to facilitate travel between Doumen and Xiangzhou districts is to be completed by the first half of 2022.

Other sections of the 30-km (19-mile) West Extension Line will pass over Huxin (S272) and Shuanghu roads and then follow the proposed North Airport Road to Shengping Avenue and the Gaolan Port Expressway (S3213). The section is designed with a speed of 100 kmph (65 mph).

Doumen motorists heading for Xiangzhou can access the Xianghai Bridge via ramps at Huxin Road, Shuanghu Road, or the Baijiao section of County Road X589 (Baijiao Road). Driving eastward, they can transit to the bridge feeder via the Zaobei Interchange in Qianshan.

Allowing for a maximum speed of 80 kmph (50 mph), the feeder has exit-entrance ramps at West Renmin Road, Jiechong and Lixi villages, connects with Jinqin Express Road via Meihua Interchange, and finally leads to the Tanzhou Interchange of the Western Coastal Expressway.

Travel to Zhongshan will be more convenient as the bridge connects with the Jiangmen-Zhuhai Expressway via the Shaoxingwei Interchange, Zhongshan's West Ring Expressway via the Tanzhou South Interchange, Guangzhou-Macao Expressway via the Xinfengwei Hub, and Tanzhou municipal roads via the Tanzhou West Interchange.

Spanning 30 km (19 miles), the dual six-lane Xianghai Bridge extends from the Guangdong Western Coastal Expressway's Tanzhou Interchange. It will run southward on a viaduct of National Expressway G105 (Gudu Avenue) to Meihua Road in Shangchong, then proceed westward along the Zhuhai-Zhongshan border to Zhongshan's Tanzhou Town and Zhuhai's Jinwan and Doumen districts.

The Meihua-Zaobei interchange section of the bridge feeder has opened to traffic.
