Located in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, an old cinema at Shimen Farm is experiencing a revival under the "Wild Hour" brand.
Established in 1955, Shimen Farm was once a key agricultural base. Its cinema was a major recreational area for those working in the farm at the time. Though it faded into obscurity, it remained a keeper of precious memories.
Therefore, the farm introduced the "Wild Hour" brand and started transforming the cinema, aiming to awaken these memories and breathe new life into the old architecture.
The project seeks to retain the cinema's historical features. Original brick walls, wooden seats, and the iconic red stage curtain have all been preserved, creating a unique nostalgic charm.
Modern elements have been integrated into a multifunctional space. The first floor screens classic films every day, transporting audiences back in time. The upper floor features a bookstore and cafe, providing a serene retreat with vintage sofas against panoramic windows and blending the aroma of coffee with the rustle of book pages.
The Shimen Farm Memory Exhibition on the third floor offers a glimpse into the farm's history through photographs and old items.
"We aim to create a dialogue between past and present," said Huang Xiaomin, the project manager. The cinema is expected to open to the public by the end of December.
With its rich natural resources and beautiful landscape, the farm will anchor a vibrant cultural and tourism hub, cooperating with neighboring programs like fruit-picking and horseback archery, offering diverse recreational opportunities for locals and visitors.
