Science and Technology Winter Olympics exhibition opens

Under the guidance of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, the China Science and Technology Museum, together with the Capital University of Physical Education and Sports, Beijing Institute of Technology, launched the Science and Technology Winter Olympics  exhibition to teach the public more about ice and snow sports and promote the Olympic spirit.

The exhibition includes five themed exhibition areas, as well as a preface hall, Winter Paralympic Games exhibition area, and educational activity area.

It will combine interactive displays with modern technology such as 5G, 4K displays and VR to create a world that visitors can participate in, interact with and experience.

Winter Olympics Covenant 

The first Winter Olympics was held in Chamonix, France in 1924. Nearly 100 years later, the 24th Winter Olympics will come to Beijing, China. 

This will make Beijing the only city that has hosted both the Summer and Winter Olympics. 

The Winter Olympics Covenant exhibition area displays the development process of the Winter Olympics, Chinese ice and snow sports culture and folklore, and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics competition areas.

The charm of ice and snow

The Charm of Ice and Snow exhibition area displays the content, rules, equipment and athletes' stories of the seven major sports events and 15 sub-events of the Beijing Winter Olympics through multi-sensory interactive exhibits, allowing visitors to experience the Winter Olympics in person.

Secrets of sports

The Mystery of Sports exhibition area analyzes the scientific principles behind sports, such as friction, fluid resistance, centrifugal phenomena, action and reaction forces, conservation of angular momentum, and energy conversion, to help visitors understand how they work.

The power of science and technology

The Power of Science and Technology exhibition area unveils the stunning technologies of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics, focusing on the use of cutting-edge technologies for venue construction, the event itself, and the promotion of the Winter Olympics.

Future city

The Future City exhibition area showcases how the event is impacting regional development, particularly in terms of environmental protection. It will show how green energy will be used to fuel the Olympics and help the region develop after the event is over.
