Wang Shuangjie, a recipient of the national design master award for engineering investigation and surveying, is the chief designer of Qinghai-Tibet Expressway. He has been in charge of disease prevention and control in the permafrost zone along Qinghai-Tibet Highway, Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, Qinghai-Yunnan Highway and another highways over the past decades, setting Chinese technical standards concerning project construction in permafrost zones. His scientific research ensured the construction of Gonghe-Yushu Expressway in Qinghai, which is the first expressway built in the permafrost zone and marks another milestone in the building of permafrost-related projects.
