Feng Xisheng is an expert in underwater robot technologies. As one of the first Chinese people to conduct relevant research in the sector, he has acted as director of the research and design of the electric control system of Haixing (the country's first remotely-operated underwater robot), chief designer of the Explorer AUV (the country's first autonomous underwater vehicle), deputy chief designer of the CR-01 6,000 AUV program, and chief designer of CR-01 AUV industrialized program and CR-02 6,000 AUV program. He was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1999.
