A fair celebrating Taizhou's famous zaocha, or early breakfast tea, opened on April 15 in the ancient street of the prefecture-level city, located in East China's Jiangsu province.
The event – which runs to May 3 – features various tea shops, dining areas, creative photo zones and is open from 7 am to 10 am daily.
Visitors can try a variety of local specialties such as fish soup noodles and crab dumplings in soup.
Shen Yumeng, a student from Huai'an city in Jiangsu – currently studying at Nanjing Normal University Taizhou College – said this was her first time tasting Taizhou zaocha, adding that she was amazed by the many delicious varieties.
There are also stations, where visitors can put stamps on their souvenir photos that feature such phrases such as "Taizhou zaocha buns".
In addition to enjoying zaocha, the market also features activities such as an ancient-style parade, thatched cottage rest areas and prizes for photo taken.
The event is part of the 2023 Taizhou zaocha festival and aims to promote Taizhou's zaocha culture and bolster communications between tea merchants.
The zaocha fair will also tour other cities to promote the Taizhou zaocha brand to more places.
