Xianglu Bay sea-view landmark supplants bygone hotel
The interior of the sea-viewing platform of City Balcony is being worked on in anticipation of a June opening as improvements continue there and at Jingshan Park on North Haibin Road.
The main structure of the new urban landmark is situated at the site of the former Qiaoyuan Hotel on the border between Jida and Old Xiangzhou. The builder, Xiangzhou Zhengfang Urban Construction, is incorporating local cultural elements into the complex.
Once open, visitors will walk from North Haibin Road onto the same-level sea-viewing platform atop the two-story complex. Offered there are unobstructed views of Xianglu Bay to the east, Shijing Mt to the west, and Zhuhai Opera House on Yeli Island.

Beneath the platform are catering and tourism service spaces and a 300-stall public parking lot. Adjacent is planned an overpass of Central Lovers Avenue to Xianglu Bay Beach, while underground passages will furthermore connect a proposed Shuixiu fountain square facing the sea to Jingshan Park across North Haibin Road.
Cuihu Lake in the park will have a Lingnan-style waterside pavilion where fish and lotus flowers can be seen. Soil excavation and the construction of service facilities and 200 parking stalls are underway north of the lake. Also coming are advanced cable cars and slideway equipment.
In addition, the east-west park-necklace section of the Banzhang mountain-hugging walkway connects the park with Jida Reservoir, New Yuanming Palace, Macao Return Memorial and Bailiandong (White Lotus Cave) parks.
By the end of 2021, the east of Jingshan Park near the North Haibin-Jingshan road intersection will have leisure, office, hotel, sea-viewing, mountain climbing, sightseeing, and relaxation venues. Already, the renovated Wanghai (Seaview) Pavilion and Yang Pao'an's bronze statue are in place.
