The Banzhang mountain-hugging walkway in Gongbei and Jida is taking shape with cityscapes, park scenery, sea views, and "smart" services in place along 8,553 m (281,000 ft) by the end of 2021.

The east-west park-necklace section of the 3-m-wide (10-ft-wide) trailway runs from New Yuanming Palace to Macao Return Memorial and Bailiandong (White Lotus Cave) parks. It will continue to Jida Reservoir, Jingshan Park, and City Balcony. Now in the works are Cable Car, Mountaintop, Lianxin, and Lian'ao rest stations and sightseeing platforms that include views of Macao.

A Cloud Rest Station is situated in the mountain-embracing section from Bailiandong Park to Ji'ning Road, which runs between Jida and Ningxi and past Jida Reservoir. A Tourist Service Center and 500-stall parking lot will be built east of Ji'ning road, while a Lakeside Book Bar, Forest Amusement Park, and Spiral Corridor will also be developed.

In addition, the trail will cross four sightseeing bridges of unique designs that reflect urban landscapes.

The high walkway is being equipped with benches with wireless charging, Bluetooth speakers, and weather forecast functions, trash cans that detect cigarette butts and warn of full loads, as well as other "smart" devices for facial recognition and exercise duration and ranking.

Visitors will encounter scenic views every 20 minutes and rest areas every eight minutes. Multiple entrances and exits, elevators, and cable cars will provide access to the trail that rises up to 180 m (590 ft).
