Technical personnel from the Jinchuan Nickel-Cobalt Research and Design Institute were dispatched to Jishishan last Thursday to collaborate with the group's assistance personnel in the county on post-disaster reconstruction projects in affected villages.
Located around 200 kilometers from Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province, Jishishan county was jolted by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake last December, which resulted in the deaths of more than 100 people and irreparable damage to thousands of homes.
While in the county, the Jinchuan Group personnel offered clear ideas, suggestions and theoretical support for project implementation, assisting in rebuilding homes in the disaster-stricken areas.

The design team worked through the high temperatures, visiting three villages to research reconstruction projects. They talked with local rural cadres, village representatives and Jinchuan Group's village cadres to get a better understanding of project construction details, target requirements, land acquisition and framework structures. They also conducted on-site investigations of terrain, geological structures, orientation, permafrost depth, soil water conservation properties and building layout structures. The team collected first-hand data through on-site surveys for subsequent designs and gathered relevant testing data, while also addressing technical issues in detail.

The head of Jinchuan Group's assistance team in Jishishan emphasized the need for project design and construction to align with the actual conditions in the affected villages. They stressed the importance of scientifically designing plans based on the principles of "most cost-effective investment, best results, strong practicality and high seismic resistance", presenting construction schemes and design drawings that are easily implementable and that can withstand the test of time.
Emphasis was placed on adapting measures to local conditions, devising detailed project construction supervision measures, tracking the implementation of these measures, ensuring quality and safety, showcasing Jinchuan Group's brand image and supporting post-earthquake reconstruction efforts.
