Copper has been becoming increasingly important as the new energy industry develops rapidly. In recent years, Jinchuan Group has been closely following the development of new energy vehicles, information technology and aerospace industries, developing and producing high-precision, cutting-edge and new-shape copper strips to meet their demand for copper products.

At the workshop of Jinchuan Niedu Industrial Co., Ltd., the golden red copper wires with finger-thickness are being processed into irregular-shape copper strips.
"The reason why it is called 'irregular-shape copper strip' is because its surface is not flat, but has a T-stand protrusion," said Liu Jianbin, deputy manager of the Semiconductor Packaging Department of Jinchuan Group Niedu Industrial. This irregular-shape copper strip is now widely used in 5G communication equipment, new energy vehicles, and consumer electronics products.

Before 2018, the production technology of irregular-shape copper strips was mastered in some developed countries such as Japan and France, becoming a technology bottleneck for domestic production.
Faced with foreign blockade of the technology, Jinchuan Group has cooperated with domestic research institutes and explored innovation on the basis of the original irregular-shape copper strip production line for nearly two years. It eventually succeeded in developing the core production equipment of forging and stamping, which has substantially reduced the processing time of the irregular-shape copper strips that originally required 12 rolling processes to just one-go on the production line, resulting in a significant improvement in product quality and accuracy.
Liu said that the company is currently the only production enterprise in China with the dual processes of rolling and forging. Its irregular-shape copper strips have better performance than the rolled copper strips used in the market. A national leader in this technology and process, the company has an annual production capacity of 7,000 tons of irregular-shape copper strips.
