The comprehensive renovation project for zero discharge of high-salinity wastewater at Jinchuan Group's Nickel Smelter recently began trial operation, marking the group's achievement of a phased result in comprehensive management of zero high-salinity wastewater discharge.
The comprehensive renovation project for zero discharge of high-salinity wastewater
This project adopts domestically pioneered and internationally leading key technology for low-temperature waste heat recovery coupled with deep treatment of industrial wastewater. Through the recovery and utilization of flash steam coupled with low-temperature heat method concentration and low-temperature multiple-effect evaporation crystallization technology for air emissions, valuable metals are recovered from wastewater while simultaneously taking measures such as reusing condensed steam water. This enables "treating high-salinity wastewater with waste heat," with zero discharge of waste heat and wastewater, while eliminating "white visual pollution." This solution addresses the high energy consumption, high cost and difficult environmental and economic challenges of zero discharge of high-salinity wastewater, providing new technology and new models for the green and low-carbon transformation of the non-ferrous industry.
This technology was jointly developed through collaborative research and development efforts between Nickel Smelter and China ENFI. It was awarded the first prize of China Science and Technology in the Nonferrous Metal Industry.

Jinchuan will continue to increase environmental protection investments and work towards the goal of "reducing emissions at the source, treating waste separately and re-using, then ultimately achieving zero discharge."
