In recent years, power supply issues have become an important factor constraining the normal production of Jinchuan Group Metorex (Pty) Ltd. Ruashi Mining. Faced with this severe challenge, the electrical and production departments of Metorex (Pty) Ltd. Ruashi Mining have collaborated to deeply realize technological innovation and process refinement, providing power assurance to achieve production goals.
In the production power supply system, the company has used a 2MW high-voltage seamless switching energy storage SPS system for 15KV line switching, achieving disturbance-free switching to ensure the continuous and stable operation of the acid plant's production, thus avoiding frequent power outages that could damage the equipment. Additionally, a 60KW 100KWH photovoltaic-energy storage integrated system is used for powering the laboratory and the entire factory's SCADA control system. The 60KW photovoltaic power generation and 100KWH energy storage guarantee the stable operation of the laboratory equipment and the entire factory's SCADA control system.
In the mining area, the re-planning of the 15KV mining area power supply new lines is being executed, along with an upgrade of the existing power supply lines in the mining pit area to reduce the line load and enhance line security capabilities. Additionally, a specialized maintenance team for generators has been introduced by the company to elevate the maintenance and overhaul the standards of the generators, thus improving the generators’ support capabilities during power outages. Each of the existing 13 AGGRECO generator units and 5 CATERPILLAR generator units are being maintained and serviced individually, with comprehensive maintenance and overhaul plans formulated to ensure that these generator units can be started up and operated immediately after a power grid failure, thus guaranteeing normal production.
Through these measures, despite the severe situation of external power supply, Metorex (Pty) Ltd. Ruashi Mining has ensured the safety of power supply and normal production in the mining area, providing assurances for the completion of its production targets in 2023.
