Jinchuan’s practices in high-end, intelligent and green transformation

Green transformation

In recent years, Jinchuan Group has continued to enhance the resource utilization of wastewater, waste gas, and waste slag on the basis of its existing environmental governance achievements. It has invested 2 billion yuan ($274 million) in upgrading and transforming equipment such as nickel flash furnaces and copper synthetic furnaces, with the comprehensive energy consumption of electrolytic copper and electrolytic nickel reaching domestic leading and international advanced levels. All new projects of the company are designed for zero wastewater discharge, saving 2.94 million tons of water annually with a water reuse rate of 90%. Continuous efforts have been made to restore and rectify slag yards, tailings ponds, and waste rock yards, with an increase in green area of 50,000 square meters. The innovative application of mine filling technology has enabled the utilization of 60% of mine waste rock, achieving a harmonious unity of mine environmental protection and cost reduction.

Jinchuan Group is actively exploring the "photovoltaic +" new business format, promoting applications such as "photovoltaic + agriculture," “the integration of wind and solar power in mining areas," and "photovoltaic + tailings ecological governance."

From intelligent underground mining to smart factories producing terminal products of large-scale nickel, from the precise processing of non-ferrous metals to the rapid rise of the new energy industry, from individual competition among the nickel, copper, and cobalt sectors to the cluster development of Jinchuan's private economy industrial park, Jinchuan’s people have been exploring the "three transformations" model and outlining the transformation route of Jinchuan's industry.
