Zhao Dongxi, a staff of Jinchuan Group, has recorded his 30-year mining work with the black marks on his fingers. Nowadays, he sits in the intelligent workshop of the "5G + rail transit unmanned-driving electric locomotive", where he bears witness to the intelligent transformation of mining in Jinchuan Group.
"In the past, when going underground, it required the coordination of three individuals - a driver, a switchman, and a miner - for smooth operations," Zhao said, "Now, there no need for people to go underground, and the working efficiency has also improved."
Located in the Gobi Desert, Jiangchang in Gansu province was established due to its enriched mineral resources. It is a typical resource-based industrial city and is known as the "capital of nickel" in China.
As a native of Jiangchang, Zhao became a miner at an early age.
In 2019, Jinchuan Group carried out research and application projects on the electric locomotive unmanned driving system.
From the dusty mines to the clean and bright central control room, it took Zhao six months to learn how to use this system.
Zhao Peng, secretary of the CPC Longshou Mine Transport Work Zone committee and deputy director of the Longshou Mine Transport Work Zone Branch of Jinchuan Group, stated that the company has achieved unmanned driving and the intelligent dispatching of electric locomotives in a 5G high-speed communication mode. This has improved the transportation efficiency and safety control level of the entire transportation system, greatly improving the working environment for operation.
This intelligence transformation has not only happened in underground mines, but also on the packaging lines. Testing, processing, measurement, packaging, storage... the machines in the workshop run rapidly and everything is in order. Bai Xiang, deputy director of the Product Distribution Center of the Nickel Smelting Plant, said that the credit lies with the management of the "5G + Industrial Internet" intelligent comprehensive control platform.
