Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Medical Products Administration announced the first batch of innovative projects for biomedical materials selected through the open competition mechanism to find the best candidates. Jinchuan Group's "research and application of key technologies of cobalt chromium alloy bars for orthopedic implants in the medical field" project was listed.
Biomedical materials are essential new materials for the production of medical devices required for diagnosis, treatment, repair, and the replacement of human tissues and organs, or for the enhancement of their functions. They are of great importance in ensuring the health of the people.
The open competition mechanism to select the best innovative projects of biomedical materials focuses on the three key directions of polymer materials, metal materials, and inorganic non-metallic materials. The aim is to select a group of units that master core technologies and have strong innovation capabilities to focus on tackling key problems, and to focus on breaking through a batch of large-scale, advanced technology, maintaining a strong driving force, and producing safe and reliable landmark biomedical materials.
The project of "research and application of key technologies of cobalt chromium alloy bars for orthopedic implants in the medical field" is led by the national key laboratory for the comprehensive utilization of nickel and cobalt resources, and is applied by Jinchuan Group. The project can achieve the melting and casting of ultra-pure cobalt chromium alloy bars, with a focus on controlling indicators to ensure low aluminum, high nitrogen, high carbon, and ultra-low inclusions, achieving domestically leading and internationally first-class products, meeting the demand for medical cobalt chromium molybdenum materials for the development of the artificial joint industry, and contributing to the development of the domestic medical device industry.
