Walking into Jinchuan Group Nickel Alloy Co., Ltd., electrolytic nickel, which had been used as a finished product for a long time, is now used as a raw material to be re-melted in a vacuum furnace. After being processed, nickel strips are produced that have been optimized from 0.5 mm to 0.05 mm - known as hand-tearable nickel strips.
As one of 19 high-tech companies belonging to Jinchuan Group, Jinchuan Group Nickel Alloy has overcome a series of industrial application problems through technological innovation.
In 2022, the investment in R&D of Jinchuan was 1.13 billion yuan (about $162 million), up 22.8% year-on-year. Eighty scientific and technological research projects were implemented, and 15 major national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects undertaken. The conversion rate of scientific research achievements sat at 75%, and the contribution rate of scientific and technological innovation development at 65%. A total of 736 authorized patents were obtained, and the conversion rate of patent achievements was 68%. A total of 2,175 technological innovation achievements were made by Jinchuan’s people, and 95 national, industrial, and enterprise standards were formulated and revised.

Benchmarking world-class enterprises, Jinchuan Group has been striving to construct an industrial chain cluster.
With its independently-developed automated high-frequency forging line, the Nickel-Metropolis Industrial Company has become the only company in China to run the dual process copper strip production line of forging and rolling.
"Copper strips require dozens of processes to achieve a thickness of 0.08mm," said Wang Junnian, deputy manager of the High Precision Copper Strip Business Department of the Nickel-Metropolis Industrial Company.
The Jinchuan Niedu Industrial Co., Ltd. has continuously expanded the field of copper alloy deep processing products, focusing on creating a copper deep processing industrial cluster with electronic materials as the main component and electrical materials as the supplement.
While enhancing the enterprise's driving capacity, Jinchuan Group has also established the Jinchuan Private Economy Industrial Park to create new industries with new formats and new models through institutional innovation. The park focuses on developing industries, such as high-temperature alloys, corrosion resistant alloys, power batteries, electronic materials, nickel copper calendering, powder materials for additive manufacturing, and high purity metals, and aims to accelerate the extension of the industrial chain of nonferrous metals and new chemical materials, as well as accelerate the implementation of industrial projects, in a bid to promote industrial transformation and upgrading.

At the same time, Jinchuan Group systematically promotes the digital reform of various fields, and deeply promotes the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries to a "high-end, intelligent, and green" level. The enterprise has increased the application of 5G+, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data and other technologies, and accelerated the construction of the "Jinchuan Brain".
The revenue of Jinchuan Group in 2022 was 331.5 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 25.5%. The total industrial output value was 219.9 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 34.9%. The production of nonferrous metals and deep processed products was 2.29 million tons, up 10.1% year-on-year, completing the annual production goals.
Jinchuan Group ranked 339th in the 2022 list of Fortune Global 500 companies and 100th among the top 500 Chinese enterprises.
