In 2022, Jinchuan Group saw outstanding achievements in production and operation, project construction, and reform and innovation, making important contributions to the economic and social development of Gansu province and laying a solid foundation for building a world-class enterprise.
Stable progress in production and operation
Jinchuan Group ranked 339th in the list of 2022 Fortune Global 500 companies, 100th among the top 500 Chinese enterprises, and 39th among the top 500 Chinese manufacturing enterprises in 2022.
The revenue of Jinchuan Group in 2022 was 331.5 billion yuan (about $48.5 billion), with a year-on-year growth of 25.5%. The total industrial output value was 219.9 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 34.9%. The annual production and operation tasks and the goal of stable growth in Gansu province were all fully completed. The total profits and taxes exceeded 18.8 billion yuan, among which, the total profit was 10.5 billion yuan, up 35.7% year-on-year. The production of non-ferrous metals and deep processed products was 2.29 million tons, up 10.1% year-on-year. 5.66 million tons of chemical products were produced. The quality of operation continued to improve, and investment saw substantial growth in 2022. The investment in fixed assets was 6.53 billion yuan, up 42.6% year-on-year.
Throughout the year, Jinchuan promoted the continuous optimization of marketing trade and guaranteed orderly production. It coordinated epidemic prevention and control with production organization to ensure the smooth operation of the whole system. The work safety situation has improved significantly, and the basic work of safety management was continuously strengthened. The brand strategy was implemented and the product quality was continuously improved. A number of environmental protection treatment projects were completed and came into use, and great results were achieved in the reduction and comprehensive utilization of acidic wastewater from the nickel system, the environmental improvement of the mining area, and the ecological restoration of the slag yard. Automation, engineering construction, repair and maintenance and other fields were managed as a whole, and safety management and service quality were significantly improved. Energy and power, material supply, detection and measurement, logistics transportation, and logistics services were all guaranteed.
Transformation, upgrade and improvement in the industrial system
Throughout 2022, the foundation of traditional competitive industries was strengthened, the optimization of the nickel cobalt smelting process was accelerated, and the systematic capacity of nickel cobalt smelting to ensure the development of the battery material industry was improved.
Furthermore, Jinchuan promoted the overall acceleration of the development of emerging industries: nickel cobalt worked to transform new energy battery materials; nickel and copper was upgraded to fine and deep processing products; and a new energy industry was developed.
Meanwhile, the company accelerated the implementation of digital transformation. A digital center was established, and the digital governance system was gradually improved. The asset and human resource management systems were put into use, and the financial sharing and digital archive systems were rapidly deployed. Digital demonstration projects, such as driverless technology in mine transportation, digital product warehouse, and intelligent copper concentrate ore blending, were upgraded. Innovation cooperation with leading digital enterprises was enhanced, establishing Jinchuan-Huawei joint innovation and operation centers.
Scientific and technological innovation provides momentum to development
The investment in R&D was 1.13 billion yuan, up 22.8% year-on-year. 80 scientific and technological research projects were implemented, and 15 major national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects undertaken.
The conversion rate of scientific research achievements was 75%, and the contribution rate of scientific and technological innovation development was 65%. The company won 12 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards; 736 authorized patents were obtained, and the conversion rate of patent achievements was 68%. There were also 2,175 employees' technological innovation achievements made in 2022.
Reform spurs development
The staff management system was improved, and recruitment methods flexibly applied. Employee compensation increased steadily, in line with operating efficiency, and the salary per person increased by 10.2%. Technical teams that made outstanding contributions all received rewards.
Social responsibility of state-owned enterprises
Jinchuan gave full play to its role as the leading enterprise in the industrial chain, driving 144 enterprises to achieve an output value of 16.4 billion yuan. 6.3 million yuan was invested to support rural revitalization. More than 200 medical personnel were sent to support epidemic prevention and control, and 1,191 employment opportunities were provided to help solve the social unemployment.
Party building of Jinchuan
Jinchuan Group comprehensively learned the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. The "Year of discipline and party construction" activity was further promoted. The Commission for Discipline Inspection further played its role in supervising and ensuring the development of Jinchuan Group.
