The middle section of the 400 mining level rail haulage has successfully connected the combined shaft with the 1# return air shaft on May 13, according to the Musonoi project of Metorex Limited, a subsidiary of Jinchuan Group.
This marked key progress made in the project construction after the completion of the combined shaft, the return air shaft, and the shallow ramp.

The middle section of the 400 ml rail haulage serves as an important channel for underground ore transportation, and its connection with the combined shaft, the 1# return air shaft, the shallow ramp and the chute system is of great significance for the mine to go into operation on schedule. The entire length of the middle section stretches for 2,971 meters, and the actual cut-through distance is 1,221 meters.
Construction started on July 15, 2021, lasting 10 months. Its average monthly construction length was 122 meters, and the horizontal and vertical errors were 0.15m and 0.1m. The project took the top spot in efficiency and accuracy among the local underground mine construction.

Since the middle section construction started, the project team has overcome great difficulties such as the lack of equipment and materials, slow logistics and transportation, and short of construction workers caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It also dealt with complex hydrogeological conditions, difficulty in long-distance slag removal, low efficiency of waste rock transportation, and insufficient ventilation in the single-headed roadway.
Based on the scientific analysis, research and judgment of engineering geological data, the team employed a number of effective support measures to ensure construction safety and quality, and to speed up the construction progress.

The middle section cut-through helps form the full negative pressure ventilation system and two emergency exits, which greatly alleviate the deficiency in underground draft.
In addition, it also enables the excavation and transportation of waste rock at two exits, laying a solid foundation for the timely completion of the Musonoi project and the development of sulfide ore resources.
