Quzhou student team finishes runner-up in VEX Robotics tournament

The 16th VEX Asia-Pacific Robotics Championship China Selection Competition concluded on Dec 7 in Danzhou, Hainan province.

The student team from Quzhou New Century Robotics Academy in Quzhou, Zhejiang province shone brightly, clinching both the divisional championship and runner-up titles, thereby securing a spot in the 2026 VEX Robotics World Championship.

This marks a formidable return to the international stage for the team, following their world championship victory in 2019.

The VEX Robotics Competition is one of the largest and most widespread youth robotics programs globally. It challenges teams to independently design, build, and program robots to work together to complete complex tasks.

As the first national-level qualifier of the season, the event drew over 300 youth teams and about 1,500 participants, including coaches, from more than 30 provinces and cities across China. The competition was fierce, with all teams having advanced through multiple rounds.

The two teams from Quzhou New Century Robotics Academy — Team 7671D and Team 8982A — both advanced with self-developed robots. They faced off in a tense divisional semi-final, with Team 7671D emerging victorious and ultimately claiming the divisional championship.

Throughout the tournament, Yu Yi, Zhu Chenmu, Wu Haoran from Team 7671D demonstrated their prowess and innovation, finally securing the runner-up title.
