Zhoushan seafood exports gain momentum in global markets
The seafood exports of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, continued to expand in the first 11 months of this year.
From January to November, enterprises in Zhoushan exported 325,000 metric tons of aquatic products, up 6.2 percent year-on-year. Export value reached 8.96 billion yuan ($1.27 billion), representing a 9.1 percent increase compared with the same period last year.
At a newly built shrimp patty production workshop operated by Zhoushan Gelin Food, workers were packaging a fresh batch of products destined for European markets on Dec 15. The shrimp patties are among the company's newly developed items and have passed assessments for additional European Union product registration with technical guidance provided by Zhoushan Customs throughout the process.
From January to November, the company exported more than 5,800 tons of frozen shrimp and squid products.
To help exporters navigate high entry thresholds and lengthy registration cycles in international markets, Zhoushan Customs streamlined procedures. Measures included flexible application reviews and parallel assessments for multiple fishing vessels.
During the first 11 months, Zhoushan added five enterprises and 26 fishing vessels to the EU registration list.
