Ningbo Zhoushan Port's Meishan Port Area celebrated a significant milestone as its annual container throughput surpassed 11 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) on Dec 25. This achievement marks Meishan as the second individual container terminal at Ningbo Zhoushan Port to reach this milestone.

Just 33 days earlier on Nov 22, Meishan had already broken the 10-million-TEU mark. The rapid progress underscores the port's pivotal role in facilitating trade along the Yangtze River Delta and beyond.

Meishan Port's success can be attributed to several factors. The port boasts 10 dedicated container berths, making it the second terminal at Ningbo Zhoushan Port and the fourth globally capable of handling over 10 million TEUs annually.

With a quay length of 3,950 meters, it is the longest and most equipped container port area within Ningbo Zhoushan Port, and a primary site for vehicle roll-on/roll-off operations.

In terms of smart infrastructure, Meishan's 102 unmanned container trucks form the largest fleet worldwide. It also features a combination of 36 remotely controlled quay cranes and 116 rubber-tire gantry cranes, forming the largest automated equipment cluster globally.

Recognized as Zhejiang's first "green electricity terminal", Meishan is one of the few ports globally offering synchronized liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering services. This innovation has significantly enhanced operational efficiency, with seven LNG bunkering operations completed this year, totaling over 20,000 cubic meters.
