Siegfried celebrates 150th anniversary in NETDA

Swiss-based Siegfried Pharmaceuticals Co celebrated its 150th anniversary in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) in East China's Jiangsu province on Sept 28.

The event indicates that the global pharmaceutical giant greatly appreciates the area's business environment.

Founded in 1873, Siegfried has established 10 factories in countries including Switzerland, Germany, France, the United States and China, with sales in 2022 totaling 1.23 billion Swiss francs ($1.35 billion).

Siegfried spent $131 million to build a factory in NETDA in 2012, which not only constitutes an important part of its global supply chain but also plays a crucial role in helping the area build a complete biomedicine industrial chain.

Sacha Bachma, Counsel General of Switzerland in Shanghai, noted at the ceremony that China and Switzerland have established close economic ties and Siegfried is playing a significant role in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Bachma expressed hope that Siegfried will make more outstanding achievements in China under the support of the local government.

Siegfried also donated 60,000 yuan ($8,254.68) to NETDA's charity society to express its gratitude to the local government.
