A total of 213 companies from Nantong in Jiangsu province secured procurement agreements worth $727 million at the eighth China International Import Expo in Shanghai from Nov 5 to 10, marking a 2.22 percent increase compared to last year and ranking them fourth in the province.

This year, the Nantong delegation coordinated the participation of 1,170 enterprises and institutions, involving 5,003 professional visitors in various economic and trade activities at the fair.

The Haimen Economic Development Zone emphasized new technologies and achievements in artificial intelligence, AI applications, robotic automatic welding machines, and health and fitness equipment, aligning with the district's industrial strengths.

A spokesperson said, "This year's expo highlights mechanical intelligence, new materials, and new energy vehicle as key innovations. We are especially interested in industries that support our development goals." The investment promotion team learned about cutting-edge technologies and products in major sectors and had productive conversations with exhibitors. They anticipate that the expo will attract valuable resources to support future growth.

The CIIE also acted as an important platform for "Made in Nantong" to enter the international market. A range of esteemed products, including blue calico, fine gold and silver craftsmanship, and sports textiles, were displayed, highlighting the strong growth of Nantong's industry.

The "Wood Fragrance" series by Laotianbao Jewelry drew many domestic and international visitors. It expertly merges traditional techniques such as ancient engraving and enamel with premium materials like Hetian jade, natural pearls, lapis lazuli, and small-leaf red sandalwood.

Liu Fang, the booth manager, said that although the main goal of this exhibition was brand promotion, they managed to gather contact details from over 100 potential clients. Several group purchase orders are now in negotiation, emphasizing the strong potential of traditional cultural products in today's market.
