In light of the intensive use of land, authorities of the Taixing High-tech Zone in Taixing, a county-level city administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province, has been encouraging manufacturers to build taller instead of wider facilities.
Some 407,000 square meters of factories, of which high-standard factories accounted for 80 percent, were built in the zone in 2022 alone.
Among the companies that have heeded this guidance is Jiangsu Jiushun Engineering Co Ltd, which is currently building a 100-million-yuan ($14.47 million), nine-floor factory.

"We would have needed over 100 mu (6.67 hectares) of land if the factory had only one story. Instead, we have used only 20 mu by making it a nine-story building. This is a more efficient use of land," said project director Jiao Yingwei.
