The Taixing High-tech Zone – located in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has moved to attract cutting-edge scientific innovative projects and it has also promoted the integration of innovation, industry, capital and talent supply chains.
One example of this initiative is Yatai Pump & Valve Co Ltd, a "little giant" – highly specialized companies that dominate niche markets – in the zone, which has established a provincial-level technology research and development platform.
More than 2,000 varieties of water pump products and 38 varieties of equipment for sewage treatment plants have been developed, based on the platform.
Moving forwards, the company plans to invest more in nuclear power diving and drainage robots, to become additional springboards for its growth, said company deputy chief engineer Jiang Wenjun.

In March, the Photoelectric Materials Academician (Expert) Innovation Center opened in the zone, attracting 25 new energy and new materials companies to follow suit. At present, the zone is home to 38 national high-tech companies and 65 provincial-level technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises.
In addition, the zone is moving to promote the settlement there of three leading operating agencies and to cultivate a raft of innovation and entrepreneurship teams.
At the same time, it has established industry-university-research cooperation with universities, in order to bring in high-quality talent and researchers.
