Zurong village in Leizhou, a county-level city in Zhanjiang, was recently included on a Ministry of Culture and Tourism list of the second batch of national key rural tourism villages.
The village has a history of more than 300 years. It boasts a large number of traditional arts and skills, such as lion dances, festive lanterns, wood carvings, and cattail weaving, as well as numerous traditional dishes local to the Leizhou Peninsula like Yana zongzi, a traditional snack made from glutinous rice for the Dragon Boat Festival.
In recent years, Zurong has been improving its natural environment and promoting the construction of local culture. It has become a model of rural construction in the Leizhou Peninsula.
