Coastal tourism in Zhanjiang develop rapidly

In 2019, Zhanjiang has accelerated the development of its coastal tourism. It is estimated that the total number of tourists received will reach 60.23 million, a year-on-year increase of 16.4 percent, and the total tourism revenue will reach 60.1 billion yuan ($8.65 billion), a year-on-year increase of 17.6 percent.

Focusing on the construction of a key tourism city of the Beibu Gulf, a tourism center of ocean resorts in South China, and an international tourism peninsula, Zhanjiang has promoted the construction of Techeng Island, Nansan Island, Donghai Island, Naozhou Island, Nanping Island, and Zhanjiang Bay, creating a tourist city with local coastal characteristics.

Zhanjiang's coastline accounts for 30.2 percent of Guangdong province's and 6.9 percent of the country's. Coastal leisure tourism has always been popular in Zhanjiang. In addition, as a big agricultural city, Zhanjiang has created brands of rural tourism on the peninsula.

In recent years, Zhanjiang has optimized the layout of urban functions, promoted urban renewal, supplemented the shortcomings of public facilities, as well as coordinated urban and rural development. It is also accelerating the construction of transportation networks, taking the lead in planning and constructing the first-grade coastal tourism and sightseeing highway in Guangdong province, as well as constructing high-speed corridors connecting Leizhou, Lianjiang, and Wuchuan county.
