The 2026 Ningbo Open concluded on Oct 25, with Elena Rybakina defending her singles title and Desirae Krawczyk and Fanny Stollar claiming the women's doubles crown. Beyond the on-court action, the WTA 500 tournament brought thousands of fans to the courts and gave visiting players a chance to experience the city.
The tournament drew more than 30,000 spectator visits and generated over 7 million yuan ($1.04 million) in ticket revenue. Semifinal and final attendance exceeded 90 percent, reflecting strong interest as the competition reached its climax. Covered courts and upgraded player facilities helped the tournament run through rainy, windy weather, underscoring the importance of venue readiness and player services for a successful international event.
Organizers also sought to connect the tournament with Ningbo's cultural offerings. Rybakina visited Dongqian Lake, where she tried on traditional Chinese clothing, painted on a paper umbrella, and experienced traditional tea preparation. Other players explored local history, crafts, and performing arts, taking in a side of Ningbo beyond the courts.
The event also extended into the surrounding city, with the Open Enjoy Sports and Lifestyle Festival bringing together more than 40 brands and generating over 1 million yuan. Among more than 60 tournament souvenirs, a tennis-themed keychain proved especially popular and sold out quickly.
