The karate competition of the 18th Zhejiang Provincial Games was held from Aug 25 to 27 at Hushan Sports Park Gymnasium in Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, bringing together 178 athletes from 10 teams across the province.

The three-day competition featured kata and kumite events in three age groups. Kata involves athletes performing set sequences of techniques and tests technical execution, coordination, and overall presentation, while kumite pits competitors against each other in bouts.

Among the athletes was Luo Yuhang of Taizhou, who competed in the men's 61-kilogram kumite event in Group A. Luo, who has trained in karate for four years, won two titles at a national youth karate U-series competition in 2025.

The host Quzhou team had four athletes in the competition, all from Jiangshan. Huang Huiru, born in 2011 and currently a middle school student, competed in the women's team kumite event.

Held every four years, the Zhejiang Provincial Games are the province's highest-level and largest sporting event. This year's games, hosted in Quzhou, feature delegations from all 11 prefecture-level cities in Zhejiang competing across 39 major events and 929 minor events, with 1,110 gold medals.
