The valley is known for six waterfalls and four deep pools shaped by karst terrain. Its name originates from the sound of water hitting rocks, which echoes through the narrow valley like beating drums. The three main waterfalls each have a distinct sound: the first is soft like a plucked liuqin (a high-pitched string instrument); the second is gentle like a konghou (harp); and the third roars like thunder. Below the falls, three pools await — one offers clear water ideal for tea-making, one perfect for quiet contemplation and one suited for swimming.
New programs include waterfall rappelling, a coffee corner with waterfall views and glass-bottom boat rides on a calm pool. Visitors can also join rural activities such as mushroom harvesting, bamboo shoot digging and insect-study tours. Customized small-group routes lead to quieter parts of the valley.

With forest coverage above 95 percent and negative oxygen ion levels exceeding 30,000 per cubic centimeter, the area serves as a natural oxygen bar. Walking trails wind through dense woods, allowing visitors to breathe fresh air as they move between falls. Free parking and a paid shuttle bus are available for reaching different trailheads.
