Heritage alliance delegates visit Mount Huangshan for study tour

On Oct 18, more than 60 delegates attending the 2025 General Assembly of the RCEP Member States World Heritage Cooperation Alliance (RCEP–WHCA) conducted an in-depth field study at the Mount Huangshan Scenic Area. The delegation included representatives from world heritage sites and relevant organizations across all 15 RCEP countries.

As morning rain subsided, giving way to drifting clouds and mist, Mount Huangshan unveiled its renowned splendor. The delegates were captivated by the dynamic landscape, pausing often to photograph the mountain's ethereal beauty.

Throughout the visit, the participants gained insights into Mount Huangshan's long-term efforts in heritage protection, scientific management, and sustainable tourism development.

Peter Semone, chairman of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), was moved by the scenery. He wrote, "Visiting Huangshan is like entering a Chinese painting. The landscape is unlike anything I have seen. I will remember this experience forever. A very special place!"

Meanwhile, a representative at Cambodia's Authority for the Protection of the Site and Management of the Siem Reap-Angkor Region (APSARA) expressed great appreciation for the tour. A national heritage officer from Nonsan city, South Chungcheong province, Republic of Korea, also praised Mount Huangshan's exemplary conservation practices.

The visit underscores Huangshan's role as a model for heritage-site governance and international cooperation, as RCEP-WHCA continues to strengthen exchanges world heritage sites of its member states.
