Huangshan has recently implemented a series of measures to improve the travel experience for international visitors, focusing on payment convenience and efficient customs clearance.
A newly established Payment Service Center for international visitors at Huangshan Tunxi International Airport offers both counter service and self-service options, including a multi-currency exchange machine that supports 10 foreign currencies and provides guidance in eight languages. Since its opening, the center has served 358 overseas visitors and processed 453 foreign card cash withdrawals totaling 867,800 yuan ($121,857).
In addition, the airport has introduced smart declaration terminals, multi-language signage, and dedicated lanes for 144-hour visa-free transit passengers. With upgraded smart inspection systems and temperature monitoring, the average clearance time has been reduced from 25 to 10 minutes — a 60 percent increase in efficiency.
To further support international tourists, many 4A-level and above scenic spots in Huangshan's Tunxi district now offer half-price tickets to foreign visitors throughout the year. Electronic maps showing foreign currency exchange locations have also been introduced at key transport hubs and tourist areas.
These efforts are part of Huangshan's broader strategy to create a more welcoming and convenient environment for overseas travelers, enhancing the city's appeal as an international destination.
