The 2nd National Cultural Relic Restoration Skills Competition took place in Luzhou, Sichuan province, from July 3 to 6.

Zhu Guorong, a contestant from Huangshan, won second place in the wooden cultural relic restoration project, marking a historic breakthrough.

The competition includes six categories: Metal Cultural Relics Conservator, Ceramic Cultural Relics Conservator, Paper & Calligraphy/Painting Conservator, Wooden Cultural Relics Conservator, Masonry Cultural Relics Conservator, and Archaeological Excavation Technician. Each category involves both a theoretical assessment and practical skills tests, with awards for first, second, and third places. Following the preliminary round, 293 participants from 30 provincial regions have advanced to the finals.

Huangshan city attached great importance to the event and actively prepared for the competition.

In recent years, Huangshan has advanced the development of the Huangshan Ancient Architecture National Cultural Relic Protection and Utilization Demonstration Zone. It has also enhanced the training of cultural relic protection talents and cultivated a team of professionals with strong theoretical knowledge and excellent skills through a model of "learning through competition and training through competition".

Next, Huangshan will continue to strengthen the talent development system for cultural relic protection, advance technological innovation in preservation and restoration efforts, and contribute to safeguarding historical heritage and promoting Chinese civilization.
