Yixian and Shexian, two counties in Huangshan, Anhui province, have been recognized by the Madiun Research Institute as two of China's top 100 destinations for cultural tourism integration in 2025. Yixian secured an impressive ninth position, while Shexian came in at 62nd, distinguishing themselves among nearly 2,000 competitors across the country.
Yixian, famous for its UNESCO-listed Hongcun and Xidi villages, serves as a living museum of Huizhou-style architecture. Visitors can walk through mist-covered cobblestone streets, admire historic ancestral halls, and enjoy stunning rural scenery that has inspired Chinese artists for centuries. In addition to its cultural landmarks, Yixian provides engaging activities such as tea-picking in terraced fields and staying in restored courtyard houses from the Ming-Qing dynasties (1368-1911).

Shexian is a significant hub of Hui merchant culture, home to historical landmarks such as the Xu Guo Stone Archway and Tangyue Memorial Archway Complex. This county blends a rich cultural heritage with beautiful natural scenery along the Xin'an River, where visitors can experience bamboo rafting and explore ancient villages perched on mountain slopes. Additionally, Shexian is renowned for its Huizhou-style ink, tea, and distinctive local cuisine.
