On the evening of Sept 13, an A320 aircraft carrying 172 Korean tourists landed at Huangshan Airport, marking the opening of the Huangshan-Woosan route. This is the first direct flight between Huangshan and South Korea since services were suspended in 2020 and the first route to Woosan since the airport's inception.
The Huangshan-Woosan route is a temporary charter service operated by Capital Airlines with A320 aircraft. It is scheduled to run every Tuesday and Friday until Oct 26. The flight departs Huangshan at 15:00 and arrives in Woosan at 18:20 local time. The return flight from Woosan leaves at 19:20 local time and lands back in Huangshan at 20:40.
Additionally, on Sept 14, Huangshan Airport will commence charter flights from Seoul to Huangshan, which will operate every Wednesday and Saturday, as well as from Daegu to Huangshan on the same days. A total of 39 charter flights are planned, with an estimated 11,500 inbound and outbound travelers expected.
As China continues to expand its visa-free travel policies, the demand for inbound tourism is on the rise. In recent years, Huangshan has attracted international tourists by developing international routes, implementing convenient visa-free policies, optimizing its payment environment, and enhancing its tourism offerings. The influx of overseas visitors is expected to significantly boost the local economy.
