Young explorers unveil Huangshan's charm through city walk

Updated: September 14, 2024

In Huangshan, a unique trend is emerging as young individuals delve into the city's allure by using social media to uncover new attractions and create new forms of travel.

The presence of young people infuses areas that were not traditionally tourist hotspots with newfound vibrancy. Places like Nanbinjiang Park, Huashan Bridge, the "Read+" Shared Bookstore, and Andong Road are becoming bustling hotspots thanks to the patronage of the younger generation.

For these youth, the quest for new sights via social media isn't merely about capturing picturesque photos; it symbolizes a love for life and a pursuit of experiences.

Wang Rongyue, a tourist from Hangzhou born in the 90s, loves to soak in the urban ambience while wandering the streets. Staying at a hotel near the old streets, she plans to visit spots like Sanjiangkou Block, Daizhen Park, Huashan Caves, and Xiangdong Factory·Manhua Valley to document her journey through Tunxi. If the weather gets hot or exhaustion sets in, she will seek solace in nearby cafes to cool off.

"This trip not only showcases the beauty of Tunxi district but also immerses me in the vibrant local life pulsating through its streets and alleys," Wang Rongyue remarked. "The opportunity to intimately engage with the people and lifestyle of Huangshan is appealing to me."

To align with the evolving trend of “city walk” tourism, Tunxi district has been enhancing its urban infrastructure in recent years. Efforts are currently underway to revamp and illuminate the environment along the Hengjiang Bay Yiqi town riverside area, with updates to Luosideng Park and its surrounding facilities already completed. The Tiger Mountain Lane urban renewal project is set to commence in September, while the "Huizhou Show Theater," "Enchanting Huizhou," and "Sleepless Huangshan" entertainment spaces are slated for public opening in October.

With a myriad of new products, scenes, and formats continuously emerging, Huangshan's charm is undeniable.

Looking ahead, as more young individuals become interested in the exploration and discovery that define urban tourism, Huangshan's cultural and tourism industry is poised to create broader development prospects and limitless possibilities.
