In a pioneering move, Huangshan in Anhui province, has inaugurated its first digital tea management platform, dubbed the tea industry brain.
Launched during the 16th Huangshan Maofeng Tea Culture Festival, the platform promises to revolutionize the local tea industry by integrating data resources and enhancing quality control.
The initiative began in January with comprehensive data collection from tea gardens across the Huizhou district. To date, data from 52,601.12 mu (3,506.74 hectares) of tea gardens and 7,916 households of tea farmers have been successfully compiled and verified, alongside data from 97 tea companies.
Notably, the platform empowers consumers with unparalleled transparency, allowing them to access detailed information about Maofeng tea, a local specialty, including its origin, processing procedures, and quality assurance reports, simply by scanning QR codes.
Beyond traceability, the brain offers multifaceted features such as fine management of tea gardens, resource integration, and administrative efficiency enhancements. Its implementation is poised to bolster decision-making processes and strengthen quality supervision, thereby elevating the brand value of Huangshan tea.
Moreover, the platform serves as a knowledge hub for tea farmers, offering insights into policies, market trends, and financial services. Simultaneously, it enables government agencies to optimize oversight and provide efficient support to tea enterprises and farmers.
The unveiling of the Tea Industry Brain marks a significant stride towards the modernization and sustainable development of Huangshan's tea industry, heralding a new era of innovation and transparency.
