Following a snowfall on Feb 27, the town of Tangkou in Huangshan, Anhui province, welcomed clearing skies. Amidst the serene scene, groups of Huangshan macaques emerged, frolicking and foraging in the woods.
Huangshan macaques, a distinctive species native to China, hold national significance as second-level protected wild animals in China. Predominantly situated in the southwestern region of Anhui's Huangshan Mountain Scenic Area, they boast a population of nearly 800 individuals across 13 active groups.

Years of dedicated conservation efforts have not only established comprehensive pedigrees for these macaques but have also pioneered non-intrusive, quantitative observation techniques for wildlife research. This innovative approach supports the ongoing construction and development of the Huangshan National Biodiversity Conservation Priority Area.
