The 19th China Huangshan International Mountain-Climbing Competition kicked off on Nov 19 at the North Gate of the Huangshan Scenic Area, located in Huangshan city of East China's Anhui province.

Chu Yan, an international student from Zhejiang University, said, "I'm from Switzerland, and this is my first time climbing Huangshan Mountain. Achieving fourth place today has made me incredibly happy!" He went on shared his appreciation for not only Huangshan's enchanting landscapes but also the warm-hearted locals.

This year's event is estimated to have drawn in one thousand athletes from 25 provinces and cities in China, as well as 11 countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
This event embodies the spirit of Huangshan city's "tourism + sports" strategy, and contributes to the reform of the tourism sector. The city will continue to build a diversified industry pattern that encompasses culture, sports and travel.
