In Xitou town – administered by Shexian county in Huangshan city, Anhui province – dozens of red-jacketed volunteers and police officers make regular patrols at night to safeguard local people.
The Xitou Town New Era Civilization Practice Institute and the Guilin Police Station initiated the "Safe Night Patrol" activity to create a good social environment so that people can live and work in peace.
During the night patrols, the police officers and volunteers actively patrol key areas such as the streets, remote alleys and places of entertainment, and try to deal with the potential safety hazards.
"Now I have a sound sleep at night. The patrol team has come to the village, and the security in the village is much better," said a man surnamed Cheng, who lives in the town.
All through late autumn nights, the volunteers and police officers walk with firm and steady steps. Their footsteps are not only a signal of peace, but also a deterrent to the lawless.
