Huangshan city in Anhui province is regarded as being one of the four new railway hub cities in China – together with Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang province, Huai'an in East China's Jiangsu province and Qingyuan in South China's Guangdong province. It is also the fifth transportation hub in the Yangtze River Delta region.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Huangshan city is expected to become another major expressway and high-speed rail hub city radiating out to major cities in China in eight directions in Anhui from Hefei city – capital of the province.

There will be 10 high-speed railways and 10 expressways in the city, reducing the commute to the Hangzhou metropolitan area to within one hour, the travel to Yangtze River Delta to within two hours and the commute to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to within five hours.

- Airline

The Huangshan Tunxi International Airport is a national first-class airport. It operates 28 domestic and international flights.

- High speed railway

Huangshan has built two high-speed railways between Hefei and Fuzhou, capital of East China's Fujian province and Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province and itself.

A high-speed railway connecting Nanchang, Jingdezhen – both in East China's Jiangxi province – and Huangshan, as well as the one connecting Chizhou in Anhui province and Huangshan, are currently under construction.

Six other railways – including the Nanjing-Xuancheng-Huangshan High-speed Railway and an urban travel railway line – are scheduled to be built.

- Expressway

Six expressways, including the Huangshan-Hangzhou and Wuhu-Huangshan expressways, have been built.

The Huangshan-Qiandao Lake Expressway and the Dezhou-Shangrao Highway are under construction.

The Nanjing-Xuancheng-Huangshan and Liyang-Ningde expressways are scheduled to be built.
