The 2022 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Fair for Trade in Services will take place at the Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center in Shizimen from Dec 22 to 24, officials announced during a Dec 16 press conference in Guangzhou.

This will be the first service trade conference held in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The event will feature exhibitions, forums, and industrial matchmaking fairs to demonstrate the well-rounded development of the service trade industry.

Huang Zhihao, Zhuhai mayor, said that Zhuhai is the only city in the Chinese mainland that is directly connected by road to Hong Kong and Macao, which has created an outstanding environment for the high-quality development of the service trade industry.

Huang noted that the fair is currently under preparation and will create a new exchange and cooperation platform as well as accelerate the exploration of new development paths in the digitalization of service trade.

Experts and innovative resources will be gathered in the Greater Bay Area to boost the integrated development of service trade and advanced manufacturing.

This year's event, with a 25,000-sqm (6.2-acre) exhibition area, has already attracted around 5,000 guests from 400 enterprises in 27 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in the Greater Bay Area and other areas of China. Among them are famous enterprises such as Tencent, China Telecom, JD.com, and iFlytek.

The exhibition will set up three areas, the comprehensive urban demonstration area, digital trade demonstration area, and life service demonstration area.

The comprehensive urban demonstration area will present the distinctive advantages and outcomes of the city cluster in the Greater Bay Area, Hengqin, and Qianhai. The area for digital trade will showcase the achievements and applications of cross-border e-commerce, digital platforms, digital finance, and digital conventions. While the area for life service will feature traditional Chinese medicine and artwork auctions.

In addition, one main forum and seven professional sub forums will take place during the event, focusing on pressing issues regarding digital trade, cross-border e-commerce, intelligent manufacturing, TCM services, and service outsourcing. Guests include Dong Mingzhu, chairman of Gree Electric Appliances, who will deliver a keynote speech.

Other events such as project signing ceremonies and investment attraction promotion fairs will be held alongside the industrial matchmaking fairs between service trade enterprises and purchasers. Enterprises will also be invited to participate in on-site visits to Zhuhai major industrial parks, enterprises, and construction projects.
