New express to cut travel time between Hi-Tech Zone, Xiangzhou
Phase I of Jinqin Express' north extension has recently completed its asphalt pavement and road sign installation work, with final touches like lighting, traffic security, and decoration projects expected to be completed in October.
Spanning 2.15 km (1.34 miles), the north extension of Jinqin Express is part of the strategic corridor connecting Zhuhai and the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link. It starts from the Gaoxin Interchange in the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (Tangjiawan) and passes through Jinfeng, North Gangwan, and 4th Xinwan roads, before ending at the Zhongshan Outer Ring Expressway.

The main line of the Phase I of Jinqin Express' north extension is a dual six-lane express road without traffic lights. A pair of entrance and exit ramps is set up around 4th Keji Road to meet the transport demands of motorists in the Technological Innovation Coast. A dual four-lane auxiliary road will also be available.
Of note, construction on Phase II of Jinqin Express' north extension project, which connects with the Zhongshan Outer Ring Expressway, is moving forward. The 1.1-km (0.68-mile) tunnel going under the Beiwei area has finished more than 90 percent of the exterior protected construction, while the tunneling work will start at the end to September to ensure the completion of main structure construction in June 2023.
Upon operation, the north extension will significantly increase transportation efficiency as well as shorten the travel time for motorists traveling between Tangjiawan and Xiangzhou District, further supporting the city's industrial development.
