A second batch of nine key infrastructure projects started construction on May 25 in Doumen District's Huxin New City, involving total investment of 1.5 billion yuan ($223 million).

The projects include construction, drainage works, and supporting facilities of 11 roads totaling 8.4 km (5.2 miles), a 197,000-sq-m (49-acre) park, 4.2-km-long (2.6-mile) underground canal, and two pump stations.

Construction for the 1-km (.62-mile) Guang'an Road and 300-m (328-yd) Tenghui Road (Cuihu-Huxin roads section), which are vital to the area's overall development, has started. Works including soft foundation improvement, municipal pipeline networks, subgrade and road pavement construction are expected to be finished in 600 days, according to Dong Yanhui, person in charge of the constructor Jiantai Construction. 

The other seven projects are waiting for approval upon assessing their feasibility reports, with preparations like construction blueprint design currently underway.

Huxin New City in Zhuhai's west wing is set to become the initial area of a proposed High-Speed Rail New City, distinctive demonstrative area with a pleasant riverside living environment, and a regional commerce, trade, and culture center.

Two medical institutions, 19 schools, eight community centers, three community sports parks, and 45 other supporting facilities will also be built in the new city. A total of 20.6 km (12.8 miles) in roads are planned, of which 9.6 km (6 mile) are ready for operation. 

In addition, the main structures of Jinmao Middle School, as well as Huxin and Jinmao primary schools have been finished. Soft foundation improvement for the Jinmaoyue Complex is currently underway, while partial operation has been started for Baiteng Civic Park. The Xingfu (Happiness) River Ecological Park is expected to finish construction by the end of August.
