Doumen high-speed rail new city takes off from Huxin
The 4.02-sq-km (993-acre) Huxin New City of Zhuhai's Doumen District will become the initial area of a proposed High-Speed Rail New City, distinctive demonstrative area with a pleasant riverside living environment, as well as regional commerce, trade and culture center.

The area, which is encircled by the Huangyang and Youyi rivers, is being invested in and developed by the Doumen government, officials of the district Housing, Urban-rural Planning & Construction Bureau announced during a March 10 symposium on Huxin New City's overall planning and infrastructure layout.
A "Five Horizontal & Four Vertical" skeleton road network is planned, with the total length of roads reaching 20.6 km (12.8 miles). Among them, 17.1 km (10.6 miles) of roads are under construction, including nine urban arteries like Xianghai Road and Pinghua Avenue. In addition, 9.6 km (6 miles) of roads have been prepared for operation. All of the roads will finish construction by December.
The area will also have access to rail transit projects including the Zhuhai-Zhaoqing and Guangzhou-Zhuhai-Macao high-speed railways, as well as the Zhuhai-Doumen and Guangzhou-Foshan-Jiangmen-Zhuhai intercity MRTs.
The Happy Riverside Ecological Park will be built by May, while the Neighborhood Center will be completed by June. Baiteng Community in Huxin New City will have the largest number of new primary and middle schools in Doumen in the next five years, according to officials of Doumen Education Bureau.
