The 2021 China Postdoctoral Innovation & Development (Hengqin) Summit will take place at Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel from Dec 19 to 20 to support the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

Themed "Wisdom Converges in Hengqin," it has attracted 3,600 professional doctorate holders, postdoctoral researchers, academicians, and management talents since its inception in 2016. When titled National Postdoctoral Academic Forum, the event had been held in Hengqin for five consecutive years.

The summit is the first national event for comprehensive high-caliber talents since establishment of the cooperation zone. It was postponed from Nov 20 due to COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures.

Next week's event includes a national postdoctoral academic forum on the new ecology of artificial intelligence, seminar on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and industry-university-research conference for the Macao Young Scholars Program, and matchmakings.

Song Yonghua, rector of the University of Macao and academician of both the Royal Academy of Engineering and Academia Europaea; and Huang Huaxiong, vice president of Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College are among the keynote speakers. 

AI scholars, experts, postdoctoral co-supervisors, and innovative talents from Jinan University and Huazhong University of Science & Technology will participate in the postdoctoral academic forum. Also involved are representatives from Ali Cloud, Cambricon, and Pachira (Zhuhai Hengqin) Information Technology.

Sci-tech research achievements in the city such as Geehy Semiconductor's first MCU chip for ARM Cortex-M4 and a novel double-disc LAA closure (LAAC) device (also known as the LEFTEAR) will be displayed.

In addition, 30 postdocs will participate in exchanges, and there will be 20 local scientific research projects covering AI, biotech, and "smart" cities.

Hengqin has two postdoctoral research stations, 12 branches at local companies, and nine innovation practice bases, with 100 postdocs enrolled and nearly 300 research outcomes accomplished. 

Eighty-nine postdoctoral workstations have been established in Zhuhai Since 1999, including 83 workstations, substations, or bases at citywide industrial parks and enterprises. These include Orbita Aerospace Science & Technology, China Aviation Industry General Aircraft South China, and Zhuhai Huaxing Intelligent Manufacturing Technology. 

Today, the number of talents working on postdoctoral research in major industries in Zhuhai exceeds 4,000, ranking among the top in the province. Their research scope covers pharmaceutical, software, printing consumables, finance, chips, and other industries.
