Larger beach being created next to Haitian Rest Station
The small beach opposite Sea & Sky (Haitian) Park off Central Lovers Avenue is being lengthened to 1,053 m (nearly 2/3rd mile) for waterside leisure activities, Zhuhai Xiangzhou Zhengfang Holdings announced March 13.
Sand placement began last weekend and will be done by late June, while six drainage outlets will be renovated in April. A dry beach area of 57,000 sqm (14 acres) adjacent to Sea & Sky (Haitian) Rest Station at the southern end of Fenghuang (Phoenix) Bay Beach will have an average width of 55 m (180 ft).
In addition to the latest waterside leisure space along the shoreline north of the former Xiangzhou Fishing Port, improvements will be made to the marine ecology and seawater.
Across Lovers Avenue from the beach, the north tip of Sea & Sky Park will have 12,000 sqm (3 acres) of Lingnan-styled (Cantonese) architecture and business facilities fully in place by June.
