The north side of the Jitimen Grand Bridge between Doumen and Jinwan districts was paved with asphalt Dec 17 and is expected to open to two-way traffic before Jan 1. Guardrails, light poles, and traffic signs are currently being installed, according to CRCC Harbor & Channel Engineering Bureau Group.

The 1,210-m (1,323-yd) bridge in Zhuhai's West Wing has dual six lanes and a maximum speed of 60 kmph (47 mph). It is designed to last 100 years and resist super typhoons.

One side of Shuanghu Road Section A, southeast of the bridge, will also open to traffic before New Year's Day. Running 2,528 m (2,765 yd) east of the 2nd and 3rd Shuijun Road intersection to the 4th Baiteng (Hongxin) Road intersection, the dual six-lane road has a designed speed of 60 kmph.

The northwest-southeast bridge on the Doumen-Jinwan border accesses Zhufeng Avenue via 2nd Shuijun Road, and Zhuhai Avenue in the southeast via Section B of Shuanghu Road. It will cut vehicular travel time between Doumen and Jinwan from 30 to eight minutes and alleviate traffic pressure on heavily traveled Huxin Road (S272).

Meanwhile, the bridge will contribute to construction of Western Eco-New Town spanning both districts and the formation of a 10-minute living circle between Doumen's Jinfeng South Urban Area and Jinwan's Aviation New Town with shared support facilities. Jinfeng South is home to acres of ecological wetland and is where the Jianyue International Business Center, and TFG and Shirong urban commercial complexes are located. Hilton and Le Méridien hotels are under construction there.

In the vicinity, Jinwan Lovers Avenue, the Public Cultural Center, Civic Arts Center, and Industrial Service Center of Aviation New Town have been completed, while construction of the International Business Center and Huafa Mall is well underway.
