Third addition to Xiangshan Lake Park opens in month
The new entrance square, underground parking lot, and two boarded walkways at Xiangshan Lake Park will open to the public by late November, Xiangzhou Zhengfang Holdings announced Oct 25.
The core area of Phase III is the Lingnan-styled (Cantonese) lakeside leisure zone with comprehensive services for residents and sightseers. A gate tower, book bar, and convenience store at the main entrance square are nearly finished. The underground parking lot at the foot of the mountain will hold hundreds of vehicles.

In addition, a lake-circling boardwalk will connect with the entrance of Phase II, while a mountaintop walkway leads to the Phase II hexagonal double-eave pavilion and emerges onto the proposed 43-km (27-mile) Fenghuang Mt hiking trails. Both walkways will open in mid-November.
Costing 75 million yuan ($11 million), the third phase covers 139,000 sqm (34 acres) in New Xiangzhou. It borders Shixi Road across from Huafa Four Seasons residential community in the south, the second phase in the north, and the first phase in the west.
It is envisioned as an internationalized low-carbon leisure park integrating landscaping, artistic value, Sponge City concept, and other functions, with original ecology resources preserved to the utmost extent.
For instance, intercepting and drainage ditches will guide rainwater into the lake. The underground stilt floor is built on the current ground without excavation. The mountain walkway is on stilts to reduce damage to vegetation.
